Summer at the Zoo: 7/31/04

This morning I was wondering who was watching who.

Spiders!

There were a couple of open exhibits. One for the beautiful spider on the left, and her orb web. Another for a fishing spider on the right, which Mike is inspecting on the back of a leaf there.

Artana took hundreds of pictures with her new camera.

Gorgeous tarantula

Bearded Dragon, sitting under a heat lamp.

I've never seen them climbing the walls before, it almost didn't look real.

Egyptian turtle foot, just adorable.

Butterflies! This was my first visit to this exhibits.

Spicebush Swallowtail

Julia

Monarch

Buckeye

Julia, tattered and old

Queen

Zebra Lonwing, and Giant Swallowtail

The tiger momma is all alone now, they've just recently sent her girls down to Tacoma's Point Defiance Zoo, where there was a new exhibit built for them.

Snow Leopards, I always have to visit them.

Then we went to the nearby park for a picnic, and we saw bunnies and squirrels, of course.

And here are three pictures from Artana that I've swiped. The first two from a touristy picture op out front of the spider exhibit, of all three of us, and then a shot she snuck of me taking pictures in the butterfly exhibit.
