Happy Thanksgiving Everybody.

Have fun, and relax. If you have family obligations, don't let them get to you. I normally spend this holiday with my mom because it falls close to, if not on, her birthday. But this year her birthday was the weekend before and we even had a party. That was fun.

Due to my weird eating habits, and more precisely that I don't eat anything but bread rolls that would appear on a traditional Thanksgiving feast table, it happens to be my least favorite holiday.

So, mostly it's always been a family obligation for me where everyone asks me why I'm not eating. Don't I like turkey, or pumpkin pie, or whatever they happen to be having at the time? This can be a bit hard on me, so I'd rather not do it.

I'd like to think that there are people who truly enjoy this holiday, and I'm sure there are some, but I only ever knew one. She liked it so much that she had it three or four times a year if she could manage it.

Besides my mom, the rest of my (blood) family is scattered all over the states. In the past 15 years that I've lived in Washington I've spent the holiday with my mom wherever she is, or I've gone to an Orphan's party. If you aren't familiar with the term, this is a party for folks who either don't have family close by to celebrate with, or they choose not to spend it with family for some reason. No matter whose party I end up at, there is always some amount of food related harassment for me. Most people are well meaning, but the best thing they could do is leave me alone.

So this year, since I got to help throw Mom a party the week before, Michael and I took off for Port Townsend. Third time this year, we must like it there or something.

Finding someplace open for dinner on Thursday was almost a disaster, but we found The Surf open. Our waitress was in a good mood, and the food was quick and good (bar food). We were Very Thankful to have found a place for dinner at all. Then we went to the Rose Theatre and saw 'Frida'. This was an excellent way to start.

Friday we walked up and down Water Street, and did a little shopping. Mostly books, which was good because other then meals we spent the better part of the weekend relaxing in the hotel room. Napping, reading, talking... It was an excellent little vacation.

Also a fantastic way to start the holiday season. Relaxing! It's good to remember that the holidays are suppose to about kindness and happiness. Enjoy it. If you have holiday traditions that you don't enjoy, or worse if you dread them, I seriously suggest that you rethink the whole thing.

Relax and have some fun, or just boycott the whole thing.
