Reviews #7
Movie Reviews Story of a girl raised in the woods away from society and how society deals with her after her mother dies and she is discovered. I believe Jodie Foster won an Oscar for this one. Which she greatly deserved. This is a beautiful drama, that makes you laugh and cry by turns. I love that this is not a story I have seen told a hundred times before. There is a slightly predictable love story involved but it is far from the focus of the film, it is more of an after thought. A wonderful western about the Erp brothers, the OK Coral, and Doc Holiday, played as a dandy by Val Kilmer is my favorite. Kurt Russel is the star of the movie, as Wyatt Erp, but Val Kilmer steals the show in many places. I adore him as an actor anyway, but his performance here is priceless. Lots of good actors and many gunfights. If you like westerns or any of the actors here, this is a must. Many stunning performances in this film. Including Cher, who seems to have a secondary part, but really makes the biggest impact on you. Set in Italy during WW2. It is beautiful and tells a war story from an angle I haven't seen before. It is also semi autobiographical of director Franco Zeffirelli's years as a youth. I rather enjoyed this a lot.
